About Ringgold High School: Ringgold High School is a public high school, dedicated to developing students to become problem solvers, critical thinkers, effective communicators, technology users, and contributing members to a global workforce and society. Ringgold High School is a grade 9-12 comprehensive high school serving over 900 students.

 

Position Summary: The Head Wrestling Coach is responsible for organizing various aspects of the wrestling program, such as scheduling, training, conducting practices, as well as motivating and coaching student-athletes in game strategies and techniques. The Head Wrestling Coach is required to abide the PIAA/WPIAL rules and regulations as well as the rules and regulations set by the Ringgold School District Board of Directors.

 

Essential Responsibilities:

· Instruct players in the rules, regulations, and techniques of wrestling.

· Organize and direct individual and small group practice activities/exercises as directed by the head coach.

· Assess players’ skills, monitor players during competition and practices, and stay informed of the athletic performance of student-athletes.

· Determine game strategy and supervising student-athletes during all practices and competitions.

· Follow established procedures in the event of an athlete’s injury.

· Maintain the equipment room in orderly condition and assume responsibility for its security.

· Distribute equipment, supplies, and uniforms to student-athletes.

· Participate in special activities and other team events, such as banquets or pep assemblies.

· Model sports-like behavior and maintain appropriate conduct towards players, officials, and spectators.

· Represent the Ringgold School District and the Girls' Wrestling program in a professional manner.

· Model nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.

 

Other Duties:

· Attend staff meetings, and other professional development activities to improve coaching performance.

· Perform any other related duties as assigned by the Athletic Director and Principal or other appropriate administrator.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities Required):

· 1-3 years of experience as an assistant wrestling coach at the high school level.

· Must possess effective coaching techniques and skills, specifically in the area of wrestling.

· Must possess knowledge of the rules, regulations, strategies, and techniques of the sport.

· Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school administrators, parents, and students.
