Job Title: Mechanic
Reports to: Director of Transportation
Primary Purpose:
To perform maintenance and repair on district vehicles and to be familiar with equipment and procedures in the transportation department.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma
- Trade, vocational or technical training desirable
- 3-5 years’ experience with all aspects of vehicle systems, repairs and preventative maintenance.
- CDL License
Essential Functions:
- Perform scheduled maintenance on district vehicles at 1,000, 1,500, or 3000 mile intervals as required.
- Perform any repairs on district vehicles as required.
- Perform bus inspections as required.
- Perform summer maintenance as required to get ready for State Police inspections.
- Check over any vehicles needed for field trips as directed by Transportation Supervisor.
- Communicate with the Supervisor, Head Mechanic or secretaries as needed with regard to repairs, parts, trips, and so forth.
- Maintain, in good working order, all transportation department tools and equipment.
- Maintain, in good working order, all personal tools and equipment.
- Keep a current inventory of all personal tools and equipment.
- Maintain the bus garage area in a clean and orderly condition.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Other qualifications and Abilities:
- Be able to pass the required drug and alcohol test.
- Must possess physical capability to lift forty (40) pounds from floor to waist, waist to shoulder, overhead, and to carry forty (40) pounds for twenty (20) feet. Must also be able to push or pull with a force of not less than forty (40) pounds.
- Must possess physical capability to sit, bend, stand and walk for periods of not less than five (5) hours.

- Ability to work effectively and efficiently without close supervision.
